Bjorn is a highly skilled corporate lawyer who has practised law since 2004. Bjorn trained at Norton Rose and then worked at Dewey & LeBoeuf before founding Avery Law. Bjorn advises on a wide range of issues in relation to energy, international financings and M&A.
Bjorn has worked on a range of large corporate transactions in emerging markets, with a special focus on the CIS and Africa, including gas fired power stations, mining, bio-diesel production and disposals and acquisitions of oil & gas fields. Bjorn’s practice area also includes real estate financings and other large property transactions in the CIS. He has also advised Sonangol (the state oil company of Angola) on several transactions and various other matters relating to their worldwide operations and worked with SOCAR (the state oil company of the Republic of Azerbaijan) in relation to oil concessions in Azerbaijan.
Key transactions involved the acquisition of MDM Bank in the Russian Federation, the sale of 25% stake in Siberian Anthracite coal mine to GLG’s Emerging Markets Growth Fund and the acquisition of the distressed mining assets Zimbabwe Alloys limited and Zimbabwe Alloys Chrome Limited.
